TEAM
GUTTERS is an activity that gets groups thinking
creatively about behaviours that are keeping them from becoming
a high-performing team. Best used in Team Building workshops.
TV
WASTELAND has teams pitted against each other to develop
the worst TV show ever for the wasteland of TV viewing - 12
midnight. This is a ploy by a new, small station to gain both
a reputation and a loyal audience. This activity works best
in problem-solving and creativity workshops and leads into a
discussion on innovative problem-solving methods.
In PIRATES,
participants need to decide which island to sail to when a typhoon
contaminates their food and water. Complicating the decision
making process is the behaviour of the observers. This activity
can lead into a discussion on leadership behaviour, supervisor
skills, or motivation.
An
AFTERNOON AT THE RACES pits groups against a seemingly
impossible problem - who to bet on for the fourth horse race
- based on the winner's names to the first three. While they
work at this problem, observers record the member's behaviours.
Best used in Team Building workshops. May be altered for Communication
Skills or Problem-Solving workshops.
SHELL
EXPLORATION challenges teams to discover just how creative
they are. In doing so, they also learn a creativity tool. Best
used in Creativity or Problem-Solving workshops.
WEIGHED
AND MEASURED is an experiential activity that helps
individual team members learn how their behaviour helps or hinders
the functioning of their team. Best used in Team Building workshops.
May be altered for Communication Skills or Problem-Solving workshops.
GENETIC
ACTORS is an activity that forces groups to reach consensus
regarding an issue that is coloured by individual participant's
values. Best used in Values, Team Building and Problem-Solving
workshops.

| I am the director of the Challenger Learning Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We have a mission control and a space lab
simulator and run educational simulated space missions for students in grades 5 - 12. We also offer a corporate team-building program. We put teams through several activities before "taking them to space" for a 3 hour simulated mission where they must accomplish a goal AND survive!
Yesterday, I used two of your free activities, "A Day at the
Races" and "Pirates," for one of our corporate groups.
They were wonderful! Two trainers were in the group and wrote down
your web site address for more activities and information. I sang
the praises of your work! Thank you for offering such interesting
and USEFUL activities free for people like me.
